About Henley-on-Thames

Henley-on-Thames is set in an area which is steeped in history. King Alfred built the nearby town of Wallingford in the 9th century in area where there is evidence of much earlier habitation by Celts, Romans and Saxons. Unsurprisingly, therefore, there is an abundance of museums, heritage sites, historic houses, ruined castles etc in the area.

Today, Henley-on-Thames itself is a picturesque 12th century town with many attractions for all family members irrespective of age:

Henley is in an ideal spot from which to explore this very historic part of England . The surrounding villages of Stonor, Hambledon, the Assendens, Greys, Nuffield Place, Shiplake, Wargrave, Fawley, Sonning, Remenham and Ewelme are well-worth visiting.
